Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, is one of the most enjoyable cities on Europe. Thanks to its vastly important and influential music scene, vibrant nightlife, variety of thermal baths, and many other attractions, it has earned its place as one of the most visited cities in Europe.

Because of its beautiful architecture, it has been nicknamed the Paris of the East. It is one of the cities that tourists love to visit. It has much to offer in the way of culture and places to visit. The city gets almost three million visitors per year and that number is gradually growing. The city is divided into twenty three different districts, and is divided into the two major cities of Buda and Pest. It is the ideal city for those who have a lower budget to visit, as the cost of living in the city is fairly low based on the incomes of the locals. Nonetheless, it still offers a fairly high standard of living. For a less costly but still entertaining and enthralling city, Budapest is the perfect destination.

Budapest offers a very accessible public transportation system. The bus system is fairly inexpensive and enables you to travel across the city in an economical manner. There are suburban and long distance trains by wish you can travel around the city as well. Taxi is also another reliable way for getting around the city. It is also a very walking friendly city, and a lot of the main attractions can be reached by foot just fine. You can also get around by scooter, bike, or skateboard. This city is great for skateboarding, as the sidewalks are wide and smooth. There is also an underground transportation system which is fairly reliable means for getting around as well.

Budapest has a wide variety of main attractions to visit. One of its biggest draws are its thermal baths. It is famous for being one of Europe’s main spa locations. The baths usually contain several thermal pools which are accompanied by several steam baths. There are also massage services and other types of therapies offered. In these baths, you will usually be required to wear a bathing suit. A lot of the baths are traditionally themed but there are quite a few with a modern twist. The thermal baths are definitely worth a visit, and count as one of the city’s main points of attraction. Here are some other prominent places to visit in Budapest:

  • The Royal Palace: This needs little explanation. This building has existed since the 1300’s and is probably the most visited place in the city.
  • Shoes on Danube: A display of sixty sets of cast iron shoes that serve as a memorial.
  • Faculty of Humanities: One of Hungary’s most recognized institutes of higher education.
  • The State Opera House: This is considered to be one of the most picturesque opera houses in the entire world.

And of course, there is much more. This city has so much to offer, you will have to visit to find out more and to see all of it for yourself.
