Portugal can sometimes be overlooked by tourism and vacationers.  Those that have passed through Lisboa, Portugal have discovered that it is a hidden gem, rich in culture and bountiful activities throughout the country and especially Lisboa. 

Lisboa, Portugal is the oldest city in Western Europe and predates London, Paris, and Rome and that makes it quite a special city to visit.

As the oldest city in Western Europe there are many landmarks and places to visit including the cathedral built by Phoenicians.  Lisboa offers some of the most mesmerizing monuments that have survived since 1200 BC.  Lisboa is located at the mouth of the Tagus River and has a wonderful subtropical Mediterranean climate.

Now that you know Lisboa is a mark on the map with great weather and many ancient places to visit, you may be inclined to discover other things to do in Lisboa.  This place is full of attractions from museums to high climbing rope adventures.  Lisboa caters to all tourism and accommodates with activities for children.

Upon arrival to Lisboa, many visitors gather their bearing of their surroundings by using the famous “no. 28”.  This is a transportation system or tram that makes its way from Martim Moniz and heads for the Graca neighborhood.  The Tram is a great way to identify landmarks such as the “Campo de Santa Clara”.  This area hosts the “feira da Lara” which is the market place that many locals and tourists head for on Tuesday’s and Saturdays.  It’s a great marketplace to buy native souvenirs or to experience the rich culture of the area.  The no. 28 will also pass by the city’s Se de Lisbo which is a Roman cathedral with the cities favorite saint, Santo Antonio.

The tram will eventually make a climb to the downtown area to the famous stature of Fernando is adored.  The main attraction on the accent on the tram is the Estrela Parliament building.  This houses the former Sao Bento Convent.  The no. 28 is coined “the tourist tram” because it is the first thing visitor’s hop on to learn about the city and become familiar with attractions around the area.

The Lisbon Zoo boasts an attraction where a Sea Lion will offer up a kiss and will let you touch snake skins.  There are also dolphins in the bay that tourists will be able to interact with.  You can also catch a lift on the cable car to ride around the zoo for a whole new sight on the zoo, and lisboa have to offer.  The zoo has showing of exotic birds in the enchanted forest exhibit where children can have a closer look at these beautiful birds.    The zoo is famous for its assistance to preserving nature and wildlife.  All the care that goes into running the grounds is considered a best practice in the realm of zoo keeping.

There is also a fun amusement park available in Lisboa.  The Animax is owned and operated by the Lisboa Zoo, but is outside of the zoological boundaries as a theme ride filled adventure for all ages.   In the Animax, visitors can find restraints, rides, bars, and shopping.  There are also a lot of informative and educational products available to visitors at the Lisbon Zoo marketplace.
