What to see and do in Sanur Beach ?
If you’re lucky enough to be taking a holiday to Sanur Beach in early July, you may want to check out the International Kite Festival. It takes place at Padang Galak, and it gives you the chance to marvel at these hugely impressive kites. Traditional Balinese models are upwards of ten metres in height, and are decorated in bright colours. If you’re in the area, buy a cold beer from one of the nearby bars, settle back and enjoy the show!
As you might expect from an island that’s seen as a paradise for tourists, there are plenty of water sports on offer at Sanur Beach. Even if you’re not an expert swimmer, you should at least try the scuba diving once during your stay. There are a number of dive operators in the area, and they welcome both beginners and experts alike. All the necessary equipment is supplied, so you’re ready for a wonderful time under the water.
Shopping is always great fun in Bali, and no holiday to Sanur Beach is complete with a stroll along the main road, Jalan Danau Tamblingan, to check out the bargains. On this impressive strip and many of the surrounding side streets, you’ll find a great collection of stores selling everything from cosmetics and pottery to clothing and shoes. Be prepared to haggle for a good price, because the vendors will expect you to do just that.
If you like the idea of getting away from it all, you should make sure you spend a day at Nusa Lambongan, an idyllic island which is home to a number of secluded coves and near-empty beaches. Just eight square kilometres in size, there’s no finer place to lie back in the sun with a cold drink and a good book.
