The region has benefitted from the strong influences of Native Americans, European settlers and Hispanic residents, and there are a number of exhibits devoted to Port Arthur’s most famous daughter, the rock singer Janis Joplin.

Like many bustling waterfront locations, Port Arthur has benefitted from being a melting pot of cultures from around the world, and this influence is clearly seen in the wide range of cuisines available in the local restaurants.
