Travel to Zivogosce
Situated on the beautiful Adriatic coast at the foot of Mount Biokovo, Zivogosce, is the ideal location for a family holiday, a romantic getaway for couples, or a sunny beach break.
Zivogosce is made up of three smaller hamlets – Mala Duba, Blata and Porat – and is easily accessible from the city of Makarska. The area is part of the famous Makarska Riviera and boasts some of the most stunning beaches to be found in Europe.
The Franciscan monastery in Zivogosce was founded in 1616 and was the area’s spiritual and literacy centre, with an extensive library and valuable works of art. You can still visit the monastery to admire the Baroque altar and furnishings, as well as the library and its extensive archives.
The area also has a great range of quality restaurants, shops and cafes, as well as excursion boat trips that leave every day towards the islands.
The area features roughly six kilometres of gorgeous, unspoiled beaches – some are pebbled, others sandy, but all are breathtakingly beautiful. The shimmering Adriatic Sea is clean, warm and unpolluted. There are several nude-friendly beach areas around Zivogosce and it’s easy to find relatively secluded spots for swimming and sunbathing away from the more touristy areas.
Aside from swimming, diving and snorkelling in the clear Adriatic waters, there are plenty of exciting outdoor activities around Zivogosce for visitors to enjoy including parasailing, jet-skiing, biking and much more. There are opportunities for fishing, sailing, boating or just plain sunbathing on the scenic beaches of the famous Makarska Riviera.
There are plenty of opportunities for fine dining to be found in and around Zivogosce and, indeed, all along the Croatian Adriatic coastline. In and around Zivogosce are to be found numerous cafés, restaurants and bars. Visitors can enjoy delicious, freshly-caught seafood of many varieties, as well as many other classic Mediterranean dishes served in scenic surroundings. Enjoy a delicious meal on an outdoor terrace, while watching the sun go down over the Adriatic Sea.
Nearby Makarska, around 20 kilometres away, features a number of very good restaurants serving classic Mediterranean specialties and, of course, many mouthwatering seafood dishes caught and prepared the same day!
