The Abaco Islands are a beautiful 120 mile chain of islands in the northern Bahamas. The two main islands, called Great Abaco and Little Abaco, are still relatively small stretches of land with Great Abaco 90 miles long and no more than four miles wide though with a lot to offer. Well-known as a boat building capital, Man O’War Cay. Due to the high density of boats in the area, the area thrives from repairing and constructing boats. Generations of boat makers have lived in this area and all craft are constructed using Acabo hardwoods. A visit here can allow you to witness first-hand the techniques of creating these hulls and sails. The town also features many chic bakeries, restaurants and shops worth a visit – making it a fascinating day out for the whole family.

While Abaco doesn’t have shopping malls or casinos it makes up for it with a diverse range of restaurants and interesting colonial architecture with splashes of bright pastel colors. The small town centers are pedestrianized or at most suitable for golf carts, meaning the hectic hubbub of the cities are left far, far away.
