If you don’t want to spend too much time travelling to the Key West attractions, stay on the east side off Roosevelt Boulevard that is close to Old Town, Duval Street, the airport and Overseas Highway. It’s well worth noting that the north side has a spectacular view of the harbor and Fleming Key in the distance while the west side has phenomenal sunset views and a whole host of hotels along the marina where attractions are within walking distance.

For a postcard-worthy photograph, take a ferry from Key West over to Fort Myers or Fort Jefferson where you’ll see gorgeous ocean views of Florida.

For a great family-friendly day out, head to the Key West Aquarium to meet tons of underwater creatures native to the area. You can take the kids –or just yourself – over to swim with playful dolphins and explore the Shipwreck Museum. Smather Beach’s two mile stretch is also a great day out for families.

Along with the usual thrilling watersports, explore underwater life at Fort Taylor Beach for some supreme snorkeling around rock-pile barriers. Try to reel in fish from the beaches, or go on a deep sea fishing boat. You can also partake in eco-tours to get a unique look at the nature of the keys.
