Travel to Peru

There may not be a nation more rugged than Peru. If you love a trekking adventure, then the landscapes that this nation offers are perfect for you. There are traditions around every turn in this country, but there are also soaring mountain peaks that take you into ancient sophisticated cultures that are only found here.

Locations like Machu Picchu, a 15th century Inca citadel, often grab the headlines for travelers to Peru. It’s easy to see why, as the ruins are located at 2,430 meters above sea level and are surrounded by peaks, clouds, and views that are beyond belief. Yet the wild landscapes aren’t always mountainous in nature as Peru also offers visitors access to the Amazon and its lushness as well.

The Spanish influences are found here in great abundance, but there is some African and Asian culture fused in there as well. The food markets are one of the unsung heroes of a visit to Peru, especially when you invest in the grilled beef skewers and the local nouvelle cuisine.

Adventure is just moments away, no matter where you decide to stay in Peru. Paragliding, cycling trails, or surfing on the Pacific Ocean are all available on-demand. Take in a sunset that disappears behind the mountains, take life at a slower pace, and be sure to linger during the many festivals and celebrations that occur throughout the year.

You can visit the rural communities of Peru to experience how the old ways continue to live on. You can visit the modern cities, such as Lima, to experience the sophistication of this nation’s modern culture. Or you can do both and have the trip of a lifetime.
