The medina or old city in Fez is known as Fes-al-Bali.
The Fes-al-Bali was established in the ninth century and it is enclosed by a eight-kilometre wall. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Going around in the medina is like stepping back in time. The streets are narrow and there are no cars inside the Medina. It is a real treat for the senses, as it really hasn’t changed very much since mediaeval times.
