New Zealand is a stunning country, nestled in the south west of the Pacific Ocean, it is full of sweeping views and natural wonders that will take your breath away. It is split into two islands, north and south. New Plymouth, situated on the North Island, is the major city of Taranaki, and is the hub of this region. It is home to some of New Zealand’s most beautiful botanic gardens, and you can enjoy the views while you snowboard down Mount Taranaki. You will have the holiday of your life here at New Plymouth, whether it be just for relaxation or adventure.

There is a whole host of accommodation available in New Plymouth. Ranging from motor lodges and backpacker inns to hotels and bed and breakfasts, New Plymouth has it here, you only have to choose. The motels and motor lodges are a great option if you’re travelling throughout New Zealand in a car or a van, as they are quite central to all the places you need to be while also accommodating for your vehicle. You can also hire out a holiday home, if you would like to spread out in a little bit of luxury, or go camping, if that’s more your style. The possibilities are endless!

New Plymouth is home to so many different and wonderful national parks and gardens. From the Hollard Gardens to Lake Mangamahoe, you will be dazzled and amazed at the beauty this city has to offer. If you’re feeling that much more adventurous, you can take a shot at climbing to the top of Mount Taranaki, situated in the lovely Egmont National Park. This mountain is actually an active but rather quiet volcano that was the backdrop for smash hit movie, The Last Samurai. If you get to the top, you will be able to see stunning views of the ocean as well as the spectacular greenery of the park. If you come in the right season, you might also be able to ski or snowboard down the Manganui skifield on the eastern slope of the mountain. If you don’t particularly relish the idea of climbing, you can take a helicopter flight over Mount Taranaki as well!

New Plymouth is full of culture and traditional Maori heritage. There are plenty of art galleries to visit that showcase artists from New Zealand as well as from around the world. There are many times of art displayed here, ranging from oils to sculpture to stained glass art design. You can also attend performances and book experiences with Indigenous Ltd, where you can learn more about traditional Maori culture and history.

There is a lot here to entertain children as well, other than just parks. You can go extreme indoor karting, horse riding, or even visit the Fun Ho! National Toy Museum. Adults can join in the fun as well, and maybe you can top off your visit to New Plymouth with a ride in an authentic steam train.
