Travel to Ollantaytambo
Ollantaytambo is both a modern city and an interesting archeological site to explore. Ollantaytambo was inhabited in the late 15th century. It is home to some of the oldest continually-occupied structures in all of South America.

Often using fieldstones to accomplish the work, it is believed that farmers would pour grain through the windows on the uphill side of the buildings, which would allow the harvest to be accessed from the bottom windows.
One unique site to visit are the sunken terraces between Plaza de Armas and the Urubamba River. There is a temperature change of more than 3 degrees in warmth from ground level with these terraces, which allowed for the Inca people to plant crops that would normally not grow at the higher altitudes.
