Travel to Whistler

If you love world-class skiing, then you’re going to love Whistler. It really is that simple. The first survey of the area was completed by the Royal Navy in the 1860s and a trail was quickly created to bring people to the area. Originally, it was prospectors and farmers that saw potential in Whistler. When the railroad came into the area, the resort atmosphere began to develop.

The snow report might be what dominates local news, but skiing isn’t the only activity that Whistler offers to visitors. This family-friendly resort community allows you to explore mountain trails, travel between mountain peaks via gondola, or experience an adrenaline rush with a lengthy zipline and an extraordinary view.

The sun may go down early in the winter, but that doesn’t mean you need to go to bed. The nightlife in Whistler is just as vibrant as a ski trail that has been freshly groomed and is waiting for you. You can choose to have a beer in a cozy pub, have a cocktail in a favorite lunge, or dance the night away in one of several nightclubs.

Whistler Village is the heart of the community and you’ll find shopping and cycling available all year long. Sunny patios invite long conversations. Playground offer laughter and fun. Open-air concerts and street entertainment is frequent. No matter where you happen to turn, you’re almost guaranteed to find a smile.

If you love the outdoors and want to relax with world-class amenities surrounding you, then Whistler must be your next destination. You’re going to love it.

Best of Whistler

One of the most celebrated ski resorts in North America, Whistler is a vibrant and attractive town in Canada’s British Columbia province. In the winter months, the place is teeming with skiers, snowboarders and non-participants who are simply looking for a good time.

It’s wrong to simply think of Whistler as a winter sports destination, however. During the summer, it provides excellent mountain biking routes, and the stunning scenery has a certain sense of charm even when there is little or no snow left. A trip to this wonderful location is one which will remain in the memory for a lifetime.

The town itself isn’t a particularly large one, but there is still a great choice of Whistler accommodation on offer. In the centre, you’ll find several hotels, while on the outskirts there is a great selection of traditional ski lodges to choose from.

If you are looking to be among the hustle and bustle of the place, especially when the sun goes down, you should look for accommodation in the centre. From here, you will be close to the many bars, restaurants and shops, and will be able to get the most from your experience

In the summer months, every visitor to this region should set aside at least a day to spend at the beautiful Lost Lake Park. This breath-taking landmark offers delightful hiking and biking trails in the summer, while in the winter the views are simply sensational. It may surprise you to known that in the summer period the waters are warm, and the beach that’s located there becomes exceptionally popular with visitors from Canada and elsewhere.

If you’re a keen golfer you will be mightily impressed by the standard of the local courses. There are three which are of an exceptionally high standard – Chateau Whistler, Nicklaus North and Whistler Golf Club – and each of them provides a superb golfing experience for every visitor. The views from many of the fairways are truly jaw-dropping, and the mountains offer a backdrop that has to be seen to be believed.

While most visitors to Whistler tend to stay in or near the village area and don’t travel further afield, a trip to the picturesque village of Pemberton is well worth the effort. This is an idyllic location, and one which offers a number of spectacular photo opportunities. The walks around Joffre Lakes are particularly popular, so if you’re in the mood to sample life away from the main ski resort it makes sense to hop on a bus and take a ride to Pemberton.

Needless to say, the number one priority for most visitors to Whistler remains the pursuit of winter sports. There are plenty of runs for skiing and snowboarding, so you’ll always have plenty of choice. The season usually runs from November through to April, so be aware of the dates you are planning to book. A traditional Canadian welcome awaits you, and the après-ski atmosphere means there will always be an enjoyable buzz in the air.
