Travel to Chad
The Republic of Chad is centrally located in the northern part of the African continent. It is one of the largest nations on the continent in terms of size and has several unique regions to explore.
From the deserts of the north to the agricultural zones of the south, there are more than 200 different linguistic and ethnic groups that call this country their home. Unlike other nations in the region, Chad has specific entry requirements. One must have a letter of invitation to receive a visa unless a passport from within the region is held.
Visiting Chad means taking some time to enjoy the natural wonders of Zakouma National Park. There are over 40 identified large animals that are within the park and hundreds of different bird species. For those looking to have a traditional safari-type of holiday, this is one of the best opportunities in the region.
Chad has some natural vistas that are quite intriguing to see as well. The country is filled with natural arches, sandstone formations, and other geological attractions. If you get the chance, be sure to get close to the Great Aloba Arch, which stands at nearly 120m in height. And in Guelta d’Archei, you can find Sahara Desert crocodiles living in one of the desert ponds.
There are many petroglyphs that can be found throughout the country as well. Many of the nomadic tribes that called this area home over the generations expressed their art as rock paintings and these can be found almost everywhere. Chad is a nation that has many surprises around every corner. Plan carefully for this excursion and it can be an amazing experience.
