From the shelters of La Digue to the hidden beaches where you might feel guilty leaving your footprints, the Seychelles offer an unspoiled beauty that is difficult to find in today’s world.

Be sure to reserve some time to explore Morne Seychellois National Park during your time on the islands. The highest point is just 905 meters and you’ll receive a magnificent view of its capital Victoria below. You’ll trek through tea plantations, dense forests, and discover hidden waterfalls along the way.

The Seychelles provide you with adventure and relaxation. It’s up to you to take these islands up on their offer.

Best of Seychelles

A grand total of 155 islands make up the Indian Ocean country of the Seychelles, one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world. The Seychelles is famous for its gorgeous beaches and unspoiled nature that make the archipelago a dream holiday choice for people everywhere. This string of paradise pearls was formerly under French rule, and later British, and ultimately gained independence in 1976. It lies around 1,500 kilometres east of South Africa, with Victoria as its capital. Seychelles holidays are a step into an exotic experience in an extraordinarily beautiful setting.

There are lots of great places to stay during your Seychelles holidays. Many visitors choose Mahé; it’s the largest of the islands and is where Seychelles International Airport is located. The country’s capital, Victoria, is only 10km from the airport, and there are lots of sights and attractions around the island. Other choices for places to stay include Praslin, the second largest island and just 15 minutes from Mahé by domestic flight, although you can also take a ferry or fastboat. La Digue is the other main island, and has some wonderful luxury accommodation. No matter where you choose while in Seychelles, you’ll find something to your liking.

The tropical climate of the Seychelles means the temperature is constant right around the year, averaging close to 30C. This glorious weather means the country is a year-round tourism destination. The wettest months are usually December until the end of February.

The famous beaches are a prime attraction on a holiday to Seychelles. These expansive stretches of white sand really are among the best beaches you’ll find anywhere in the world, and so, just lie back and soak it all up. One of the most popular on Mahé island is Beau Vallon in the northwest; it stretches for 3km and is fringed by towering coconut trees. Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue is pure heaven while Anse Lazio on Praslin is good for families as it has shallow waters.

Explore the sights of the capital, Victoria, including a replica of London’s Big Ben clock tower in the centre of this small city. Learn about the geology and flora and fauna of the islands at the Natural History Museum. The Victoria Botanical Gardens, constructed in 1901, are well worth a visit. In the mornings there’s an outdoor market where you can pick up the freshest of fruit and fish.

With its crystal-clear waters and abundance of marine life, it’s no surprise that scuba diving is enormously popular in the Seychelles. There are over a dozen dive sites that visitors can choose from, and if you don’t know how to scuba dive – take lessons! It’s easy to learn and you won’t regret divining into this magnificent other world.

Seychellois cuisine is divine. It’s an extraordinary meld of influences, from French, British, African, Indian and even Chinese – flavours for everyone. Naturally, being surrounded by the bountiful Indian Ocean, seafood features prominently, and coconut curries and saffron rice are also local staples. One of the islands’ delicacies is bat curry – try it; it’ll give you wings.
