Travel to Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a unique nation with a very diverse culture. There are 16 official languages recognized by the country, dozens of ethnic tribes that perform their own traditions and cultures, along with colonial influences from generations past. The nation became independent in 1980.
The most popular destination in Zimbabwe is Victoria Falls. It is located in the western corner of the nation and offers numerous activities and dining options to enjoy. Some lodging and camping accommodations are also available on a limited basis.
One destination that is often overlooked is called “Great Zimbabwe.” It is the ruins of an ancient city that was built entirely of stone. The complex covers over 1,800 acres and the dry-stone building techniques have stood more than 7 centuries. Be sure to wander about the complex or take advantage of a guided tour.
Lake Kariba is another great place that Zimbabwe offers for visitors to find a chance to relax. It is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world and is an excellent destination for fishing and water sports. One great holiday idea is to take a multi-day houseboat tour of the lake, which can include evening camping along the shore.
Or visit the Chinhoyi Caves, which are part of a national park complex. These caves are a world-class diving destination, with depths reaching 120m in some areas. The full complex has yet to be explored and you’ll need to bring your own equipment. For those with the right expertise, it is a spectacular experience.
Zimbabwe has a fascinating story to tell. Plan your stay and include your own story within its pages.
