Travel to Bolivia
Bolivia offers an opportunity to explore the Andes Mountains. It may be a landlocked nation in South America, but it does give you access to Incan ruins, beautiful lakes, incredible salt flats, and modern cities that allow you to plan the perfect itinerary.
Bolivia has also been called the Nepal of the Americas, for its Cordillera Real with almost a thousand peaks soaring over 5,000 meters and matching anything the Himalayas can offer in climbing and trekking, but with much less of the human traffic.
The culture of Bolivia is divided into three distinct periods, which gives visitors a chance to trace the history of the nation through costume, dance, and the numerous festivals that are held annually. Carnival is one of the best times to visit the various cities of Bolivia, but there is always a reason to celebrate with a visit.
For those who like to explore, there are several world heritage sites which are open to the public in Bolivia. From natural wonders to ancient city centers that date to the 15th century, you can walk from the colonial era to the modern era in some cities just by crossing the street.
Numerous national parks can bring visitors even closer to nature if they wish. Maddi National Park, Tunari National Park, national reserves, and other integrated natural areas all offer beautiful hiking trails or access to wildlife and birdwatching. Bolivia has laws which accord nature the same rights as humans, which means there is a greater level of preservation and care that can be found here.
East of La Paz, you escape the cold of the altiplano and go down the Amazon jungle towards Brazil. The Torotoro National Park is full of fossils, dinosaur footprints, caves and waterfalls, the real trip for those who love the unbeaten paths.
South America’s primary mountain range, the Andes, attains one of its widest points in Bolivia. Here the Andes are divided into two subranges, Cordillera Oriental and Cordillera Occidental. Peaks in these areas are in excess of 6.000 metres. Between these subranges lies the Altiplano which contains the highest navigable lake on earth. Lake Titicaca, which also lies in Peru, is 3,800 metres above sea level.
Lake Titicaca is what helps make the Altiplano livable. This body of water is large enough to temper the coldness in its vicinity. Grains have been raised for centuries on the surrounding arable land up to the amazing elevation of 3.900 metres. The area supports a major group of subsistence farmers to this day.
Bolivia is naturally beautiful if you love the mountains. It is naturally adventurous for those who love to get out to explore. You are given the opportunity to relax in your own way.

Tour de France are for amateurs
Some travel companies offer the adventurous a one-week ice-climbing and biking vacation. After a day of training on the mountain bike, you pedal away on a mountain road ringed on the sides with 250 metres drops. If that’s not enough, another route will pass by a section with a 4500 metres drop. The route takes you from the peak of the Chacaltaya Mountain and goes down into the impenetrable jungles of the Zongo Valley. A brief rest, and then you undergo one more day of training prior to a two-day climb up Huayna Potosi, one of the highest peaks in the world at 6000 metres.
True Eco vacation
Bolivia’s newest attraction is the Chalalan Eco-lodge, in the Madidi National Park, right in the Amazon jungle. This is ecotourism in capital letters, and the place has the greatest biodiversity in the whole planet. There are over 300 types of birds, 1,200 butterfly species, monkeys, jaguar, tapir, caiman, and other wildlife.
