Travel to Aosta

If you wish to explore the Italian Alps, then Aosta is a wonderful destination to choose. You’ll find it at the entrance to the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the confluence of historical trading routes. The history of this community begins around the time when BC and AD dates converge, providing visitors with unique sites to explore, such as the ruins of a Roman theater and the Porta Praetoria.

The ancient town walls of Aosta are almost entirely preserved. Standing 6.4m tall and almost 3m thick, the towers stand at angles to the entrance and other intervals. The Leper’s Tower, Tower of Bramafan, and the Fromage Tower are particularly impressive. The south and east gates also exist intact. The former is a double gate that has 3 arches and is flanked by 2 towers.

You’ll want to visit the Cathedral in Aosta as well. Constructed in the 4th century and given a new edifice in the 11th century, it is an architectural masterpiece. The cloister of Sant’Orso, dedicated to Ursus of Aosta, is particularly impressive. You’ll also want to see the Bridge of Grand Arvou, a Medieval arch bridge/aqueduct.

The bridge and aqueduct were built to improve irrigation and complements the work of the Petit Arvou, which is just a little further downstream. Together, these two structures helped to provide the foundation of agricultural wealth that helped this region to grow. Aosta is a stunning city where the past and present come together to create a hopeful future. Make your way here to create your own amazing opportunities.
