Travel to Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan was a nation that once grew rich because of the ancient Silk Road. Like many nations in Central Asia, it became an independent country in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Because of its crossroads location, it has become a melting pot of cultures. Russian is often spoken, though Uzbek is the official language. This diversity can be seen in many other ways as well.

As you stroll through the cities of Uzbekistan, you’ll find a strange combination of architectural styles. There are 12th century mosques that have been beautifully restored and there is the block-style Soviet architecture that was quickly built after a destructive earthquake in 1966. You’ll also find classical Russian architecture mixed in here and there as well.

Make your way to Khiva and this walled city is like taking a journey back through time. It is listed as a world heritage site, but is still populated with local businesses and homes. The ornate mosques and mausoleums contribute to a maze of streets that are all fully restored and stunningly beautiful.

Uzbekistan is also a country where local tourists outnumber foreign tourists, which makes the experience even better when planning a holiday. You might encounter a wedding group or someone like yourself, just out for a leisurely stroll to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. It is also an amazing place for those who love to shop, as murals and mosaics are just a way of life here.

You’ll find Uzbekistan to be charming, sophisticated, and welcoming. There is a wonderful adventure here that is waiting just for you.

Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan

Tashkent Travel Wiki Travel to Tashkent When visiting Uzbekistan, Tashkent is a logical choice. With influences of Turkic and Sogdian cultures, the city was founded in the 8th century. Genghis Khan caused the city’s destruction in the 13th century, but it was rebuilt and became an influential stop on the ancient Silk Road. Much of its modern growth, however, can be attributed to its time under the supervision of the Soviet Union. In 1917, a revolution destroyed much of the city once again....
