Travel to Mongolia
Mongolia is the world’s largest landlocked country that does not even border a closed sea. It is a rugged nation, with little arid land, featuring mountainous grassy steppes and the heat of the Gobi Desert instead. Almost half of Mongolia’s population lives in the capital city Ulaanbaatar.
Before the 20th century, much of the culture in Mongolia involved religion and horses. Realism was introduced in the 1800s and modernism has been included since the 1960s. Yet as Mongolia has moved forward, it has not forgotten the importance of its roots. You will find gers, an equivalent to yurt, frequently dotting the landscape during your travels.
Outdoor adventures are one of the primary draws for a trip to Mongolia. The landscapes are quite fragile, which causes the Gobi Desert to frequently expand, especially with overgrazing an issue. In the Gobi, the conditions are so difficult that camels struggle to survive. You’ll find guided trails to mountain summits or sand dunes available, depending upon your preference.
Uvs Lake is a unique opportunity to explore. This world heritage site is the remnant of a saline sea that was in the area thousands of years ago. With a large catchment area and no exit, the water is about half as salty as ocean water. The lake often freezes over in October and this lasts until May. The entire basin has nearly 40,000 archeological sites from cultures that date to the Scythians.
Mongolia has beautiful landscapes, stunning adventures, and a wonderful culture to explore. It is one of the most unique destinations that Asia offers.
