Florence has many charming features that will keep families occupied. The iconic ‘Florence Y’All’ water tower is a must see, with a story of its’ own. An introduction to Florence often starts with the ‘Florence Y’all’ water tower. A quirk of the city, it was originally used as a giant sign, to promote the soon-to-be-open mall. Realising it violated laws relating to how tall a sign promoting a business could be, ‘Florence Mall’ was changed to ‘Florence Y’all’. The city of Florence is host to many local parks catering for a wide range of recreational sport. Parks feature basketball, tennis and sand volleyball courts, as well as ball fields and walking trails. For fishing families, Orleans Park features a stocked lake with a catch and release rule. Or check out a place popular with local fisherman, Camp Ernst Park. Visit Florence’s largest park, South Fork Park for bike riding and a barbeque. The Florence Nature Park is a treasured gathering place for locals. Enjoy landscaped gardens and explore the natural surrounds with 15 acres of paved walking trails, for a bit of nature in suburbia.

Take advantage of Florence’s close proximity to a big city, with a trip up to downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati features the usual big city suspects – a zoo, botanical garden, city square, art galleries, museums, and a music hall. You’ll also find opportunities for great views and fun oddities, like the American Sign Museum.

For some culture head to one of the earliest contemporary art museums in the United States, the Contemporary Arts Centre, for art of the ‘last 15 minutes’. The Cincinnati Music Hall is a beautiful building, constructed in 1878, to visit for opera, music and holiday concerts.

For views head to Carew Tower, Cincinnati’s tallest building, or to Mt Adams. Mt Adams offers panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline and northern Kentucky. You’ll also find popular eateries and bars housed in 19th century buildings.

You can’t visit this part of the United States and not play the part of a baseball or football fan for a day. Visit the new home of the oldest major league baseball team in the United States, the Cincinnati Reds, at the Great American Ball Park. You’ll find family friendly fun, with giveaways and entertainment post-game. Plus the stadium boasts views of the Ohio River on one side and downtown buildings on the other.
