Vacation in Egypt

Egypt is a beautiful, mystical land that has been drawing visitors in with its dramatic, longstanding history and friendly people. From Luxor in Upper Egypt to the south, to Alexandria in the Delta in the north, Egypt has a wealth of natural, archaeological, and cultural beauty for visitors to behold on vacation here. Leisurely discover the length of the famous Nile on a river cruise, or peruse souvenirs in the large Khan al Khalili souk in Cairo. Channel your inner archaeologist and climb inside the Great Pyramid in Giza and stand in awe inside the millennia-old Karnak Temple in Luxor. A vacation to Egypt is one filled with memories to last a lifetime.

A vacation in Egypt means miles and miles of options for where to stay in this vast country. If you’re an Indiana Jones at heart, travel to Luxor in the south for two riverbanks full of archaeological sites you can explore. For those who want to relax, head to the coast to Dahab for diving or Red Sea beach resorts in Sharm El Sheikh. Those who want to mingle with locals and discover modern Egypt should stay in the capital of Cairo, and make an effort to visit Alexandria in the Delta. Wherever you choose, Egypt has a wide range of accommodations to suit your vacation.

Egypt is full of widely interesting places, take Cairo for example: full of different neighborhoods with varying personalities, you can find everything here. Wander around the famous souk of Cairo, Khan al Khalili, take a taxi to the edge of the desert and see the pyramids or explore Old Cairo on foot. Hop over to Zamalek across the Nile and go salsa dancing in a fun bar and restaurant. There’s more to a vacation in Egypt than meets the eye.

In the Delta region, take time to discover both old and modern Alexandria, an important region in both recent and ancient times. See for yourself the ancient Egyptian, Greek, and French influence over the city, and enjoy some spectacular sunsets of the Mediterranean. Not to mention, delicious meals to be had!

Luxor is a place you can spend weeks and months just wandering around the ancient sites. The Valley of the Kings, as impressive as the tombs may be, are nothing compared to the awe-inspiring Deir El Medina-the city of artisans- and Deir el Bahri- the temple of Queen Hatshepsut; both are less-crowded than the main attractions. There is also a Valley of the Queens, located to the south of Deir el Medina and the Valley of the Kings with some spectacular paintings, almost as vivid as when they were first painted thousands of years ago! Even if you did not want to become an Egyptologist as a kid, you need to see the magnificent Karnak Temple: when you first walk in, you can hardly believe it’s as old as it really is. Luxor Temple, just along the banks of the Nile, and the Mummy Museum are excellent sites for the whole family.

If you want a truly relaxing vacation by the sea, look no further than Sharm el Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula, or Dahab on the eastern coast of mainland Egypt. These Red Sea resort towns have an air of tranquility about them during the day, with constant sunshine and seemingly endless clear water to swim around in. If you’re not already certified, learn how to scuba dive now and avoid missing out on the breathtaking marine world just off the shores of Egypt.
