The huge Karaouine Mosque lies at the heart of the medina is not open to non-Muslims but the many religious schools surrounding the mosque allows entrance to everybody.
The most famous school is the Attarin Madrasa, which has attractive Islamic architecture and was constructed in the 14th Century.
