With views of the Ionia Sea, Kyparissia provides one of the best experiences in the Peloponnese. Even in the ancient days, the landscapes of this community spoke of romance and wonder, as the community’s footprint is perfect situated between the water and the mountains behind.

This seaside town offers a sandy beach that is long and beautiful, within walking distance from most accommodations. On the slopes of the hill, you can find the old town and its many wonders. Make your way up the hill and you’ll discover a Medieval Castle and stunning views of the sea, especially at sunset. You can also take a short drive to explore the archaeological site of Peristeria and its vaulted tombs.

The castle was constructed by the Franks, but it took the place of an older Byzantine fortress. It has been held by numerous governing bodies over the years, from the Turks to the Venetians, until the Greeks reclaimed it in 1821. It was partially restored in 1970 and now contains an open-air theater that hosts regular events.

Kyparissia is also conveniently located for the adventurers who love a good day drip. Road trips to Olympia, Pylos, or Kalamata can complete the Greek experience for an extended holiday.

You can have a drink at the beach promenade, take advantage of the calm waters for swimming, and enjoy the family-friendly environment. It may be a small village, but it offers a large number of exciting opportunities to every visitor.
