Discover Larnaca
On the southeast coast of Cyprus is Larnaca, which is ideally placed to offer you access to several of Cyprus’s other cities and holiday hotspots – including Nicosia and Ayia Napa. In fact, it only takes around 40 minutes to drive from Larnaca airport to Ayia Napa, so you can easily reach this well-known party and beach destination from the city.
Like Paphos, Larnaca boasts a rich history of its own as well as beautiful beaches, so it’s a popular holiday destination with all kinds of travellers. Among its best stretches of sand are Phinikoudes, Castella and Yannathes, with a well-developed promenade running alongside Phinikoudes and lined by restaurants and cafes. In terms of historical attractions, the 10th century Church of St Lazarus is a must-visit and is considered to be one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture on the island.
Active holidaymakers will be well catered for in Larnaca, too, with the seaside city boasting a range of water sports facilities – including sailing and scuba diving schools – while you can access Cyprus’s section of the E4 European long-distance walking path, which runs from Larnaca to Paphos.
The Cape Gkreko National Park, which is located to the east of Ayia Napa, is a wonderful place to head to for hiking or cycling.
