Lismore

To understand what the hippie movement that flourished in town really stood for, visit the Nimbin Museum and see local artwork paired with indigenous stores – it may just open your mind.

The cafés and restaurants around Nimbin and Lismore are some of the best in Australia due to the climate and volcanic soil that makes food growing here phenomenal. Using fresh local organic produce the restaurants serve up a great variety of fare; the coffee too is syesome of the greatest in Australia due to the nutrient rich soil.

With one of the highest populations of koalas in New South Wales, it is pretty normal for residents to see one of the furry creatures in a backyard. See the Lismore Koala Care Centre where you can learn all about these gentle creatures and how to promote habitat restoration. Kids will also love the Northern Rivers Kart Club and the Lismore Speedway for a series of either competing events or solo runs for a fun day on the track in a controlled environment.

With such a diverse sub-culture in the area, there are a variety of healing sanctuaries hidden away in the dense forest.
