Mannum has a stunning history, and you too can experience the rich culture that shapes this little town. Originally home to the Nganguraku people, there are several different trails and tours you can follow that will allow for a greater appreciation of not only this town, but the Aboriginal culture itself. The Randell, Shearer and Arnold Walks take you through different parts of Mannum, and they all have their own stories.
If you’re more of a water person, there is so much for you to do here! Hire a canoe and paddle down the river with a friend, and take in the sparkling water and the lovely sunshine. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even explore two exposed wrecks – if you’re lucky, you might find some treasure! You can also fish in the river, hire out a water ski or just sit and watch the birds fly by and the sun set on a magnificent vista.
If driving is more your style, go on the scenic Murray River drive. Take as long as you like, and visit places like the cactus garden, the Chucka Bend, the Aboriginal Canoe tree and the Bird Sanctuary. There is something on this drive to surprise and entertain everyone, and you might even learn something new!
Also don’t forget to visit The Pretoria Hotel for your dose of good old fashioned Australian food and entertainment. There are live bands playing every Saturday, and soloists every Sunday afternoon starting from 2pm.
