Mooloolaba Beach is patrolled year round and families will love the safe swimming conditions as well as its natural rock pools. Serious surfers should visit the nearby breaks at the Mooloolaba Spit or Alexandra Headland.
The Wharf Mooloolaba is a great place to explore with kids. Underwater World is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular attractions and visitors are encouraged to interact with the animals. Touch a star fish, kiss a seal, swim with the sharks or if you prefer just stand back and be amazed at the wide variety of sea life on show. From 4pm on Fridays the Wharf is also hosts Mooloolaba’s Twilight community markets where local produce and hand crafted gifts are on sale.
Keen athletes should time their holiday around the annual Mooloolaba Triathlon which attracts some of Australia’s best amateur triathletes. The amateur event is held in conjunction with the International Triathlon Union’s Mooloolaba Triathlon World Cub which kicks off the international racing season and is attended by the world’s top triathletes.
A short 10 minute drive from Mooloolaba is Sunshine Plaza, the Sunshine Coast’s biggest shopping centre. Featuring over 220 speciality stores, major department stores and the Sunshine Coast’s largest cinema complex the Plaza is a great place to escape the summer heat. The Plaza’s Riverwalk is set along a natural creek and has some top-quality restaurants, a pub and paddle boat hire.
Mooloolaba comes alive after dark and has a great range of bars, pubs and night clubs. If you are looking for a more relaxed trendy atmosphere head to Lot 104. Those wanting to dance the night away should visit The Wharf Tavern or The Pub Mooloolaba.
