The Blue Lake is just one of three crater lakes surrounding Mount Gambier. The other two, Valley Lake and Leg of Mutton Lake, offer picnic areas and walking trails. Valley Lake boasts boating and water skiing activities as well.
To further immerse yourself in the Limestone Coast, enjoy a visit to Mt Schank. Just a 15 minute drive from Mount Gambier, the extinct volcano is well worth a visit. It is an easy climb to the top where you can walk around the crater or descend into it.
The region is well known for its limestone caves and sinkholes. Umpherston Sinkhole is located in the centre of town and has been transformed into a secret garden with gorgeous flowers, relaxing benches and even a cheeky possum or two. Further afield, take a diving tour in the water filled sinkholes and caves to experience the extraordinary underwater landscape.
The modern attractions of Mount Gambier are just as entertaining as the geographical features. The town boasts a bowling alley, cinema, paint ball complex and basketball centre.
