Nikiana is a small village that you’ll find in Lefkada within the Ionian Islands of Greece. It shares a namesake with a beach, a resort, and a small resort. You can’t go wrong with the beach in Nikiana. It’s smaller than some beaches and somewhat isolated, but the sands are brilliantly white, and the waters are a stunning turquoise. There are some boulders in the shallows, though wading and swimming are easy enough to do. Bring an umbrella and a chair to have an amazing afternoon in the sunshine.

There are several boat charters that you’ll find in Nikiana as well. You can take a boat tour of the Ionian Sea if you wish or schedule some time to go fishing. There is a local diving center that supports scuba and snorkeling activities as well. Whichever option you choose, you’ll find that a day on the water can make for one of your best day trips ever.

You’ll also find that there are great little bars that dot the beaches of Nikiana and each has its own personality to enjoy. You can sit out on the sand, enjoy a favorite cocktail, and relax to the gentle sounds of the waves. Although some locations have more pebbles than sand, you can still enjoy some sunshine and a walk along the shore.

Nikiana, with the rolling green hills in the background, is a wonderful place to kick your shoes off, close your eyes, and take a deep breath. Then repeat for as long as necessary until you can finally relax.
