Travel to Guam
Guam is an unincorporated, but organized territory of the United States. It is located in Micronesia and serves as a key military outpost for the U.S. in the region. Although it is considered a military stronghold, it is also a stunning tropical holiday destination. More than 1 million people visit Guam every year.
One of the most unique experiences the island offers is the War in the Pacific National Historical Park. Here you will find trenches, gun placements, and battlefields from the wars that were fought here in the 1940s. Many of the historic structures have been preserved and you can access sandy beaches and the famous turquoise waters of the island at the same time.
Along the southern part of the island, the Chamorro people have been able to preserve their customs for several generations. You’ll find rolling green pastures, thatched huts, and beautiful vistas waiting for you. Try some of the local coconut candy, bring home a handwoven souvenir, or just sit on a beach and look out over the water to see Cocos Island on a clear day.
Be sure to visit Talofofo Bay during a stay on Guam. The black-sand beaches are a stunning contrast to what the rest of the island offers. It is somewhat rustic, but there are amenities available and the afternoon sunlight creates the perfect view.
Diving, snorkeling, golf, and many other activities await you in Guam. Take the plunge on this destination and you’ll be able to enjoy some time off the beaten path.
