Travel to Pienza

Since 1996, Pienza has been declared a world heritage site. Since 2004, the Val d’Orcia, the entire valley where you’ll find this stunning village, has been listed as a world cultural landscape. If you’re looking for the classic, breathtaking views that are often promoted for travel in Tuscany, this is where you’ll want to be.

During your stay in Pienza, be sure to visit the Palazzo Piccolomini. Defined by 4 buildings, the main residence offers three stories that are articulated by entablature courses, pilasters, and a dual-light cross-window set. The gardens of the palazzo overlook the valley and provide one of the most stunning views that Italy can offer. In the center of the piazza is the Duomo, with an early Renaissance façade and five stunning altar paintings that deserve to be seen.

During the first Sunday of September, Pienza celebrates a festival with its world-famous pecorino cheese. The cheese from here is of the highest quality thanks to the local sheep pastures that the Val d’Orcia is able to support. You’ll find numerous products made with this cheese during the celebration and it is a great way to get to know the local culture a bit better.

Pienza is also a city for lovers. It’s “love route” includes the Via dell’Amore and the Via del Bacio. You’ll find couples strolling along both as they spend time together in this beautiful destination. Pienza brings the magic and harmony of Tuscany. It has inspired generations of writers, poets, and artists and now it invites you to embrace that same inspiration.
