When in Copenhagen visitors should stay in the Indre area, particularly near the Nyhavn canal. There are lots of outdoor cafes and restaurants there, which are especially beautiful in the summer sun. Indre is known as the Old City and retains the charm of Old Denmark with the vibrancy of its people today. Vesterbro is another great area with multiple hotels and is extremely close to the nightlife. To be near all the bustling action of Copenhagen, stay in the city center or in the Tivoli area, both of which are highly popular with the tourists.
Definitely visit Copenhagen at any point in the year. During the summer the city is beautiful with families chilling by the canal with their ice cream cones, and with couples feeling the love in a charming European city. The spring and fall also offer these similar atmospheres. However, the spring does draw in many people due to the Easter Flea Market, which is perfect for vintage lovers. The winter, though not as laid back and leisurely as the other months, is still delightful due to the happiness that comes with the Christmas markets and the air of yuletide pleasure.
Many of the locals bike throughout the city to reach their destinations. When in Copenhagen, do the same and rent a bicycle to explore the different attractions available in the city. Hop off your bikes at any time and sample some of the open sandwich options, known as Smørrebrød, or try some of the aebleskiver, which is a pancake shaped like a sphere, and do not forget to sample the fish dishes. The bakeries, coffee shops, and tearooms are also in large supply and are considered to be incredibly delicious.
Tivoli Gardens is found in the center of the Tivoli area. An amusement park dating from the 1840s, Tivoli Gardens has more than its popular rides. Visit the Tivoli Concert Hall, the Pantomime Theater, or catch some of Fredagsrock, which are live music concerts held in the park.
This previous Viking fishing town has transformed into a center for art and culture. Its museums such as the National Museum, the National Gallery, and the Thorvaldsens Museum contain works from the greats, and their music venues are revered for their class and popularity, particularly the Royal Danish Theater, the Copenhagen Concert Hall, the Koncerthuset, and the Vega. Its churches, such as the Frederik’s Church and the Church of Our Savior are considered to be some of the world’s grand pieces of architecture. Copenhagen, with its beautiful buildings, impressive culture and its peaceful neighboring waters offer a world of refinement to its visitors.
Danish nightlife has many places to dance until your feet can dance no more, but for a relaxed night on the town, Copenhagen’s options are many. The sports bars, jazz bars, such as the famous Jazzhus Montmartre, cocktail bars, wine bars, and bodegas, which are traditional Danish pubs, have delighted visitors for years and provide a great atmosphere to get to know the local people and the Danish lifestyle a whole lot better.
