If you only have one opportunity in life for scuba diving, save it for a vacation to Cozumel. This beautiful island off the Caribbean coast of Mexico is home to world famous diving, and one minute underwater will show you exactly why. You don’t need to be a diving enthusiast to enjoy Cozumel, as it has enough charm for each kind of vacationer. You can spend your entire vacation on this lovely island, or just a few days as part of a Riviera Maya excursion. Whether you’re taking a diving trip with friends and family, or have your heart set on a romantic retreat, Cozumel is a fantastic vacation destination.

Most of the hotels on beautiful Cozumel island are located on the west side in the town of San Miguel. This side of the island is home to the main nightlife of Cozumel, the ferry port, and the local airport, with plenty of vacation staples concentrated nearby. You can choose from a variety of excellent hotels and resorts from the heart of San Miguel to the stretch of beachside road to the south. If you want even more exclusivity, head to the east side of the island for the best sunrises of all of Cozumel.

Cozy Cozumel is the largest Mexican Caribbean island, with a thriving center of San Miguel. The main attraction of Cozumel is definitely those gorgeous turquoise waters that surround it, full of an array of underwater wildlife just waiting to be discovered. The tropical atmosphere makes Cozumel an ideal romantic setting, though expert divers will find the same amount of joy here below the breaking waves.

Mainland Mexico’s beaches have nothing on the fine white beaches and incredibly clear waters of Cozumel. You can enjoy an entire day on these beaches, basking in the sun and swimming in the clear waters. Spend a day on the more secluded beaches on the east side, and then head to the west to watch the town of Playa del Carmen across the sea light up after sunset.

The lively Mesoamerican Reef has around 13 miles of multicolored coral reefs to explore. Encounter a variety of vibrant marine wildlife, and swim with some of the Caribbean’s many, many schools of fish. This serene setting is a wonderful respite from the normal busy life. Stroll down Cozumel’s boardwalk for plenty of registered companies with organized diving trips, plus all that diving gear.

Trek through the exciting jungles on Cozumel, visit the mangroves and stunning lagoons, and don’t forget to snap photos of the extremely beautiful ecosystems. Wander through the eco parks and observe endangered turtles and crocodiles from the safety of a tower. If you cannot get enough of the luscious greenery, stop by the Chankanaab Park’s tropical botanical gardens.

Spend a night out on the town in lovely downtown San Miguel, the only town on Cozumel. Enjoy a delightful meal just off the shore or in the heart of the town before taking a stroll along the boardwalk.
