There are three places in Tenerife that attract the most vacationers when it comes to the all-around Canarian experience: Los Cristianos, Playa de Las Americas and Costa Adeje. Playa de Las Americas is the vacation center of the island and hosts many resorts, making it extremely visitor friendly. Costa Adeje is a more chic choice and here you will find plenty of 4- and 5-star hotels, upscale boutiques and manicured beaches. Los Cristianos is the quietest area of the three and is home to a few very popular beaches. If you crave more nature and peace and quiet, there are plenty of villages and smaller towns to choose from.

It’s hard to believe with the plethora of beautiful beaches and with the non-stop energy of the nightlife, but there is actually more to Tenerife than what Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos offer. There is beautiful landscape just waiting to be explored and admired. El Teide is the highest mountain in Spain at 12,198 feet and visitors can take a 10-minute cable lift up to just below 12,000 feet. The Parque Rural de Anaga is also a wonderful place to embark on a hike where the Pico del Ingles viewpoint provides you with a spectacular view of the entire island.

If you don’t want to walk, driving around the island is just as good as Tenerife offers plenty of winding roads that stretch around mountains set against breathtaking scenery. One popular destination is Masca Village, which is high within the Teno Mountains where forests and cypresses and palm trees are abundant.

As the water temperature is always warm in Tenerife ranging from 64F in January to around 77F in the summer months, it is the ideal place for scuba divers and for a variety of water sports like windsurfing and jet-skiing and sailing For views of volcanic rock formations just venture around the harbor wall in Puerto de la Cruz.

Not to mention, for the children in all of us and for kids themselves there is also the impressive Siam Park, Water Park in Costa Adeje, which has rides like the Vulcano, a four-person slide with a laser inside which flashes an image of a dragon, or the Tower of Power, which is a vertical, transparent slide around which sharks and stingrays swim about.

With so much to do and see and explore, a Tenerife vacation is perfect for anyone of all ages and is a guaranteed fun time.
