"Good To Know"

Visit Calgary, Canada

If you’ve ever wanted to see a real-life cowboy try to ride a bull, maybe take a trip 150 years into the past, or ski the same trails as Olympic champions, a vacation to Calgary is the ideal trip for you. Although the city might seem to move at its own leisurely pace, it is bursting with amazing opportunities. Rodeos and river rafting provide your trip with an adrenaline rush while the fantastic food and craft beers offer a more relaxing way to spend your evening. Adventurers of all ages are guaranteed a fantastic experience with a Calgary vacation.

No matter where you stay in Calgary, an adventure is just around the corner. There are plenty of hotels designed to accommodate everybody’s needs, whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic retreat or a family with kids in tow. The downtown core is brimming with restaurants and bars where you can sample the city’s world-famous Caesar cocktail. The area near Prince’s Island is vey family-friendly and pedestrian-oriented, and is the perfect place for a relaxing stroll. Calgary nightlife is centered around the “party street” Uptown 17, where there are countless bars, restaurants and nightclubs to spend time after the sun goes down.

A vacation to Calgary is an honest-to-goodness North American adventure. Located in the grasslands of Alberta, the city’s biggest draw is its famous cowboys. The Calgary Stampede features the greatest rodeo stars in the world and draws huge crowds, including the “buckle bunnies,” the biggest female rodeo fans.

Unleash your inner cowboy when you visit and watch angry bulls and horses try to fling their riders to the ground from a safe distance, munching on local favorites such as deep-fried bubble gum or bison ribs. Of course, no cowboy worth his salt would be caught without his Smithbilt hat, luckily the iconic manufacturer is located in the city. You can even try your hand at rodeo yourself at the western-themed Ranchman’s bar, complete with its very own mechanical bull.

For an even bigger adrenaline rush, you can try some river rafting. Calgary is the ideal location for ice sports, which is perhaps why it was chosen as the first Canadian city to host the winter Olympics. At the old stadium on the city’s outskirts you can ski and snowboard in the same spot as Olympic champions. Less adventurous visitors can take a trip into the past at Heritage Park, the largest living history museum in Canada. The historical village is a hands-on way to learn about Calgary’s history and includes restaurants and even a brewery for an authentic taste of the past.

Visitors looking for a more relaxing way to spend their time can go to Prince’s Island Park to enjoy a relaxing picnic, bike ride or stroll. The little island park is a refreshing piece of nature in the middle of the city. Of course, the city itself has its fair share of metropolitan attractions, and Calgary is famous for its shopping. The low shopping taxes are another incentive to check out the many little boutiques or CrossIron Mills Shopping Center.

A Calgary vacation can be as adventurous or relaxing as you want it to be, the decision is entirely up to you, but will be a guaranteed good time no matter what.
