Travel to Dominica

The Commonwealth of Dominica is a sovereign island nation that is located in the Windward Islands group within the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It is southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique.

Because of the structure of the island, which is mostly volcanic, the island has fewer beaches than its neighbors. That has caused tourism development to be slower, but that works to your advantage.

Dominica has earned the nickname of the “Nature Island.” You’ll find that there is an extensive natural park system to explore. Make your way through the forest trails to Boiling Lake and you’ll be able to enjoy the views from the second-largest thermally active lake in the world today.

Visit Toucari Bay during your stay on the island as well. The waters of the bay are very calm and offer some of the best snorkeling and diving sites on the island. One wreck just off the bay is said to be a German vessel from the first world war. Another excellent spot for snorkeling, with its underwater volcanic vents, is Champagne.

Try the Waitukubuli National Trail if you love a good trek. It’s 184km in length and takes you from the southern tip of the island to Cabrits National Park on the northwest portion. For a shorter hike, try Glassy instead. It is a 3-hour day hike that takes you through a deep jungle valley, along steep cliffs, and ends right on an old volcanic flow into the ocean.

Dominica is the perfect destination for an adventurer’s soul. Experience the island now and it will imprint a lasting memory on your heart.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
